NEW BRIDGES

NEW BRIDGES contributes to making the Baltic Sea Region an attractive and competitive region to live and work in. Our aim in the project is to improve the management of urban-rural interactions. This will be done through introducing the concept of quality of life to the regional planning practices. We will work within three themes that are considered as main pillars that have a major impact on the quality of people's life. The pillars are
1) residential preferences, 2) provision of services, 3) mobility and accessibility.
These pillars of quality of life are the key factors when individuals value and decide about the attractiveness of a certain region as a place to live and work in. Thus, NEW BRIDGES project demonstrates that the concept of quality of life needs to be introduced to the regional planning practices, in order to create attractive and competitive city-regions that meet the expectations of different people.
NEW BRIDGES is a three year project (2009-2011). We have altogether 12 partners from 8 countries in the BSR. In addition, we have several associated partners closely following and supporting our progress. The project is part-funded by the European Union within the Baltic Sea Region Programme, and by the Finnish Ministry of Environment.
