Trainings
The UBC Commission on Environment offers to its members trainings that are envisioned to empower local government units, local stakeholders and people in the community on the concepts, principles, applications and models for sustainable development and especially on integrated management. These trainings can serve as a venue for sharing experiences and developing new cooperation.
Following trainings are offered:
Sustainable Urban Transport Planning
Through this training participants will gain a better understanding on Sustainable Urban Transport Planning. Training focuses on solving local sustainability challenges in the transport field in an integrated way not only focusing on transport but also including urban planning, health, social issues, education, economy and other relevant sectors into the transport planning. The SUTP process builds on a participatory process involving all parts of the society making the plan more transparent and efficient. As a result of the training the local government unit is able to improve or initiate their Sustainable Urban Transport Planning.
The half day introduction trainings (3h) is based on results from the project BUSTRIP and its output the guide book “Moving sustainably”. Training is offered in English, Swedish or Finnish. Price, 500 € (including preparations) + travel expenses.
URBANWORKS – Sustainability Management Centre
The training presents the model for efficient management of sustainability related issues. The participants of the training will gain a better understanding on different models and recommendations for organising the responsibilities, practical arrangement and building up support for the Sustainability Management Centres (SMC) within local authorities. Training focuses on solving local sustainability challenges in an integrated way not only focusing on environment but also including urban planning, health, social issues, education, economy and other relevant sectors and stakeholders. In the Baltic Sea Region the concept of SMCs has been developed and several good practises already exist. The short introduction training shall also be seen as a planning event for further cooperation and support to respective city administration.
