The UBC Commission on Environment
Union of the Baltic Cities (UBC) Commission on Environment (EnvCom) is one of the 13 commissions of the UBC. The UBC EnvCom is responsible for the Union’s work on environmental and urban sustainability, co-operation and functions as the co-ordination secretariat of the entire UBC Sustainability Action Programme. The work of the commission is lead by two co-chairs.
The UBC Commission on Environment, Environment and Sustainable Development Secretariat is located in Turku, Finland. It has been hosted by the City of Turku since 1996. It is administratively in a legal term a part of the City of Turku and follows the internal regulations and working arrangements of City of Turku. The staff of the UBC EnvCom Secretariat consists of 10 employees.
The practical work of the UBC Commission on Environment is done in the UBC Environment and Sustainable Development Secretariat. The Secretariat is a co-ordination and service unit for the implementation of the UBC Sustainability Action Programme.
