UBC Commission on Environment took part in the two-day joint event for the Annual Forum of the EUSBSR and the Baltic Development Forum Summit hosted by the City of Turku. The event was part of a larger Turku Baltic Sea Days 2014 week held during the first week of June. UBC EnvCom was also showcasing its activities as an exhibitor in the Networking Village at the joint stand with four other organisations of the Baltic Sea House.

Over 1200 Baltic Sea region decision makers and experts gathered together when the City of Turku hosted the large EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) Annual Meeting and the Baltic Development Forum Summit on 3–4 June. The event was part of the larger Turku Baltic Sea Days week, during which several Baltic Sea themed meetings, conferences and public events were organised in Turku. The joint event “Growing together – for a prosperous, inclusive and connected Baltic Sea Region” included conference activities, plenary and parallel sessions concerning topics related to economic growth and sustainable development. A pivotal question was how to strengthen these two, and create a strong and integrated Baltic Sea Region through cooperation.

UBC EnvCom was also represented at the Logomo event. All the five organisations located in the Baltic Sea House with the expertise on Baltic Sea regional challenges were having a joint stand together in Networking Village. At the Baltic Sea House stand visitors were offered a chance to sign a commitment for the Baltic Sea and given buttons with the slogans “I know what I`m doing” and “Simply doing my best” referring to the awareness of the state of our sea. The exhibition area at the Logomo hall offered dynamic setting for organisations working on improving the Baltic Sea Region to display their activities, and atmospheric place for visitors to have an open dialogue and follow the programme of the Networking Village stage.
